  1. 03 The Mystery

From the recording Pocket Hang Glider

One of many songs I wrote while driving through Epanola NM. This one was inspired by an asteroid that passed over my head while sitting at a traffic light and other weird events.. It finally took off after I spotted a hair salon called "do or dye" I had fun with this one and could continue with many other verses if I had to.

Lyrics

The Mystery

I was getting a perm at the Do’ or Dye, when I saw a strange light in the sky
A giant flaming meteor, big as a Cadillac for sure
Over the traffic lights it went up over the mountains till it was spent
No-one looked up to check it out, I was alone without a doubt
Alone in the mystery of it all.

I was hunting up on Truchas peak when I stopped to take a leak
All day long no sign of elk I was starting to feel bad for myself
When I saw a spaceship through the trees humming like a hive of bees
No-one looked up to check that space ship out I was alone without a doubt
Alone in the mystery if it all

Alone in the mystery alone in the mystery
Alone in the mystery of it all

I was up somewhere near Chama workin through some old trauma
when I thought I’d head up towards the ranch out to see my Uncle Lance
When I got there all the cows were dead without assholes and without heads
No one looked up to check it out I was alone without a doubt
Alone in the mystery of it all

I was working on a creepy film in Vegas wishing that they’d finally pay us
Working on a bounce and doing it well when something flew out like a bat out of hell
It was the biggest owl I’d ever seen as bright as the moon and as serene
No one looked up to check it out I was alone without a doubt
Alone in the mystery of it all.

Alone in the mystery alone in the mystery
Alone in the mystery of it all

I was hitting the slots at Picuris throwing frisbees at the sheep
When I saw a hippy with no clothes wearing hair down to his toes
He grunted at me around 4:20, so I suspected he might be some kind of yeti
No one looked up to check him out, I was alone without a doubt
Alone in the mystery of it all

When I was a kid I was sick as a freak, I lay in bed for more than a week
When my temperature reached 104 I saw blue ghosts line up at the door
One tipped its hat and gave me a wink and pulled from that awful brink
No-one looked up to check them blue ghosts out
I was alone without a doubt alone in the mystery of it all

Alone in the mystery alone in the mystery
Alone in the mystery of it all

Alone in the mystery alone in the mystery
Alone in the mystery of it all
